No reason for concern about my health: Shekhawat
Monday, February 17 2003 22:37 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: Setting at rest speculations about his health, Vice-President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, who developed a cramp in his leg while reading out the Hindi version of the President's address on February 17, said he was feeling better and there was no reason to worry.

"I am still unwell, but the sort of propaganda electronic media gave about my health has created a problem for me...let me make it clear there is no reason for concern," Shekhawat said during a book release function.

"In Parliament, I was a little unwell which was highlighted by media in such a way which put me in difficulty as family members and close relatives started pouring in here in cars or even by aeroplanes."

"I thought it fit to attend this book release function and use the electronic media to communicate that there is no reason for concern," he said.

Doctors attending on Shekhawat had later said the Vice-President's "discomfort" was on account of a cramp in the right leg due to prolonged standing while reading the Hindi version of the President's address.
