Kolkata: Over 400 activists of the 'Banga Sena', a city-based organisation advocating
a separate homeland for Bengali Hindus in Bangladesh, were on February 18 arrested
for trying to cross over into Bangladesh from North 24 Parganas district.
The group began gathering at the India-Bangladesh border at Halencha in the
jurisdiction of the Bagda police station in the district since morning, the police
said.
The activists were stopped well ahead of the border and taken into custody, the
sources said.
