Islamabad: Even as India and Pakistan granted visas to their senior diplomats to head
their missions, the two countries on February 18 appeared headed for yet another bout
of tensions with Pakistan alleging harassment of the staff in its High Commission in
Delhi by Indian intelligence agencies.
Pakistan Television and official news agency APP put out identical reports alleging
that staff members of the Defence wing of the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi
faced
harassment.
"India has virtually paralysed the movement of the Pakistan High Commission's staff
at New Delhi, especially the personnel of the Defence wing," APP said.
Quoting un-sourced reports, it claimed lives of the families of the diplomats has
become "miserable" and they can not even shop around without being chased closely by
Indian
intelligence agencies.
"Diplomatic sources attribute the attitude as an attempt to keep the pot boiling and
further pick up diplomatic row with India," it said.
The military advisor to the Indian High Commission in Islamabad Brig R K Karwal too
has been complaining of being subjected to aggressive surveillance and tailing by
Pakistani intelligence agencies for some time.
