New Delhi: Government is committed to setting up of a National Judicial Commission to
draw up a code of ethics for judges of the Supreme Court and High Courts, the Lok
Sabha was informed on February 21.

Political parties have been requested to communicate their views on the question of
setting up of the Commission for appointment of judges and evolving a code of ethics
for
them, Law Minister Arun Jaitley said in a written reply.
He said it was not feasible to indicate a time-frame in this regard as it would
involve amendment to the Constitution.
The Attorney General of India has emphasised the need to set up a body to check
errant judges in the country, he said.
