Islamabad: Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has been permitted by the Pakistan
government to go to London for heart surgery.
Sharif, currently living in exile in Saudi Arabia, underwent an angiograph test on
February 21 in a hospital at Jeddah and would shortly go to London to undergo heart
surgery, Pakistan daily 'The Nation' reported on February 22.
Sharif's family had requested Pakistan government to allow the former Premier to
proceed to London, accompanied by his father, for medical treatment for a duration
of two weeks and the permission has been granted, the report said.
Recently, Sharif's brother Shahbaz, who is also living in Jeddah, was permitted to
go to US to undergo surgery for appendicitis and he too could be moved to London,
reports said.
