Lucknow: Former international hockey player Abid Ali Rizvi died at the Lucknow medical college hospital here following renal failure, family sources said on Monday.

Rizvi was admitted to the hospital about a week ago and he breathed his last on Sunday, sources said.

Rizvi, a contemporary of legendary hockey player K D Singh Babu, represented the country in several international tournaments. He played in the right full back position in the team led by Balbir Singh senior that toured the South Asian countries in the 1950s.
