New Delhi: Noisy scenes were witnessed in the Rajya Sabha on February 26 when a
Rashtreeya Janata Dal (RJD) member refused to put supplementaries to Defence
Minister George Fernandes till the probe into the Tehelka expose was complete.
Trouble broke out during Question Hour when Saroj Dubey said she was not asking her
question to the Defence Minister.
"I don't want a reply from a corrupt Minister," Dubey said sparking off sharp
protests from the treasury benches.
As the remark led to heated exchanges from both sides, the RJD member said the
inquiry into the Tehelka expose in defence deals was still not complete.
As the shouts and counter-shouts continued for some time, Chairman Bhairon Singh
Shekhawat asked Dubey if she would ask the supplementary or not.
When the RJD member said that she wanted some other Minister to reply, Shekhawat
took up the next question.
Fernandes has been facing flak in both the Houses ever since he was re-inducted into
the government pending the inquiry, with the Opposition boycotting him and refusing
to ask questions.
