Bhopal: The Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) would firmly oppose any
political party, including the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), if it did not extend co-
operation for construction of the Ram temple at Ayodhya, the Dal's national convenor
Prakash Sharma asserted on February 26.
"Even the NDA (National Democratic Alliance) government was not working as per our
expectations as the Ram temple dispute at Ayodhya had not been solved by March 12
last year as per an assurance given by Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee," Sharma
told reporters.
Denying suggestions that Bajrang Dal's programmes were linked to elections, Sharma
said its agitation for Kashi, Mathura and Ayodhya was going on without interruption
since 1984.
When a questioner told him that according to Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay
Singh, the VHP as an organisation had till now not constructed even a single temple
and was busy only in collecting donations, Sharma quipped, "We do not need any
certificate from Singh."
The Bajrang Dal and VHP were conducting their programmes in which they were getting
support from the masses, he claimed.
