New Delhi: Seeking deportation of illegal immigrants, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)
on February 27 said Bangladesh has become a den of Inter Services Intelligence (ISI)
activities.
"Since Begum Khaleda Zia became the Prime Minister of Bangladesh supported by Jamiat-
i-Islami, the presence of insurgent groups in the North East has increased," party
spokesman V K Malhotra told reporters.
He said Left parties and Congress were turning a "blind eye" to the problem, adding
there are currently nearly three crore Bangladeshi immigrants in the
country.
This would create a serious law and order problem, he said.
He said minorities in Bangladesh were being persecuted and India must take steps to
stop this.
On the Ayodhya issue, Malhotra hit out at the Opposition for raising the matter in
every session of Parliament.
"This issue is repeatedly discussed in every session and so much time is wasted.
There is not enough time to take up subjects like 10th Five Year Plan and important
Bills," he said.
Malhotra said the issue could be resolved through consensus or court verdict or
negotiated settlement.
