Congress wins Humnabad Assembly bypolls

Bangalore: The ruling Congress' candidate Rajashekhar Patil has won the Humnabad Assembly seat in Bidar district in the February 26 byelection, defeating his nearest Janata Dal-Secular (JD-S) rival Mirajuddin Patel by 9,320 votes.

The Congress has wrested the seat from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), whose candidate Subash Kallur was relegated to the third spot, polling 28,954 votes against JD-S nominee's 29,438 votes.

Rajashekhar Patil polled 38,758 votes.
