New Delhi: Sharing concerns over threats posed by terrorism and its nexus with drug
trafficking, India and Columbia have agreed on the need to co-operate in combating
this scourge.
The entire range of bilateral relations came under review during wide-ranging talks
between visiting Columbian Minister of External Relations Carolina Barco and her
Indian counterpart Yashwant Sinha on February 28.
Columbia extended its full support to India's initiative for a comprehensive
convention against international terrorism at the UN.
The two leaders also discussed the outcome of the recent NAM (Non-Aligned Movement)
summit in Kuala Lumpur and efforts at revitalising the 116-nation
grouping.
While underpinning the importance of more bilateral exchanges, they also discussed
the prospects of setting up a joint commission.
India's efforts to have closer institutional linkages with regional bodies in Latin
America also figured during the parleys.
