Shillong: The Congress on March 1 surged ahead of its coalition partners of the Meghalaya People's Forum (MPF), in 10 of the 30 seats, trends for which were available in Meghalaya till now.

Its coalition partners, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) was ahead in six, while the United Democratic Party (UDP) was ahead in one. Others were ahead in 13.

The Opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Garo National Council (GNC) were yet to open their account.
