Bangalore: Karnataka Chief Minister S M Krishna on March 2 called on Congress president Sonia Gandhi and congratulated her for the party's success in Himachal Pradesh and Meghalaya Assembly elections.

Official sources said Krishna also briefed Gandhi on the Congress's victory in the by-election held to the Humnabad Assembly seat in Karnataka.

Sources said Gandhi expressed happiness over the Congress wresting the seat from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Humnabad.
