New Delhi: Short of apologising for the mistakes committed in Jammu and Kashmir,
state Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed blamed the politicians for making a mess
of the affairs in the state.
"Politician hi responsible hain aur un mein main bhi hun kyon ki hum hi ne rule kiya
hai state ko. Iska matlab hai ki humne theek se nahi chalaya hai state ko
(politicians including myself are responsible for the situation in the state. We are
to be blamed because we could not rule properly)." Sayeed told a gathering of
intellectuals last night on the occasion of 'Shivratri Milan' organised for the first
time by the state.
He said he did not know whom to blame for the present problem in Jammu and Kashmir
but added, "If some movement had to start in the state, it has to be done in a
democratic way."
He said when we talk about the external designs preventing the situation from
returning to normal "we should not forget that there are certain vested interests
internally as well, who are opposed to normalisation of situation in the
state."
Making a fervent appeal to Kashmiri migrants to return to the Valley, Sayeed said,
"The successful completion of the elections had raised hopes among the people who had
started seeing a silver lining in the dark clouds hovering over the state for long."
