Students torch college office, Principal hurt
Monday, March 3 103 18:40 Hrs (IST)

Kendrapara (Orissa): Irate students set fire to the office of their college at Pattamundai, a block headquarter town 20 km from Kendrapara, as their agitation turned violent on March 3, official sources said.

The college Principal, two other teachers and at least seven policemen were injured in the incident, the sources said.

The students, who had been demanding postponement of the pre-degree examination, tried to force their way to the Principal's office when the college employees objected. They then ransacked the office and torched furniture.

When policemen and a fire tender arrived, they were stoned by the students.

District Collector Hemant Sharma and superintendent of police Arun Bothra had rushed to Pattamundai.
