Shillong: A mammoth 38-member Congress-led coalition Ministry in Meghalaya headed by D D Lapang was sworn in on March 4 evening at the Durbar Hall of Raj Bhavan by Governor M M Jacob.

The Governor first gave the oath of office to Lapang, followed by the 38 others, of whom 28 were of Cabinet rank and 10 Ministers of state in the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance coalition.

Two members of the Hill State Peoples Democratic Party, who were included at the last moment by Lapang, took the strength of the coalition to 42.
