Islamabad: Pakistan has conveyed its concern to US about the proposed sale of Arrow
missile by Israel to India saying it would have a "negative impact" on the regional
security.
"The issue has been taken up by government of Pakistan with the US government for
sale of Arrow missile to India by Israel," Pakistan's Minister for Defence Rao
Sikandar Iqbal told the National Assembly on March 3.
Replying to questions, he told the Assembly that Pakistan has conveyed its concern on
the matter "appropriately" to the US administration, Congress and other opinion
makers through diplomatic channels.
"Pakistan is fully aware of the negative impact for regional security and is taking
all necessary measures to meet the threat and safeguard our interests," he said
adding that the US state department has not granted clearance to the sale of the
missile due to possible infringement of the provisions of the Missile Technology
Control System (MTCR), despite campaigning by pro-India Congress.
The Arrow missile system is a joint production of Israel and the United States.
