New Delhi: The Union Cabinet on March 4 approved an agreement with Indonesia on visa-
free travel for holders of diplomatic and official passports of the two countries.
Under the agreement, a citizen holding a valid diplomatic or official passport would
be exempt from visa requirement while entering, transiting through or exiting from
the territory of the other country, an official spokesman said.
A citizen would be allowed to stay in each other country's territory for a maximum
period of 14 days without a visa.
The agreement, which will be valid for five years and may be renewed for another
five years by mutual written consent, also makes it obligatory for the passport
holders to respect all regulations under the existing Law of the host country and
either country has the right to refuse entry or to cut short the duration of the
stay of any citizen of the country.
The Cabinet gave its ex-post-facto approval to the agreement signed on April 3,
2002. It will come into force 30 days from the date of receipt of the last of the
diplomatic notes informing each other that all internal requirements for the
agreement to come into force have been met.
The agreement can be amended or revised by mutual consent of the two countries.
