Itanagar: More than 300 houses were gutted in a devastating fire at Hong near Ziro, headquarter of lower Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh on the night of March 4.

Deputy commissioner Hage Shalla and superintendent of police Jyoti Gogoi said on March 5 morning that though there was no report of any loss of human life, many domestic animals were roasted alive.

They said that the incident occurred at 9.30 pm (IST) and immediately two fire tenders were pressed into service.

The fire had reportedly erupted from a video hall.

The DC further said that the damages caused due to the fire were being assessed and a committee was formed for undertaking the relief operation.
