Plot to kill President: Delhi court frames charges

New Delhi: A Delhi court on March 6 framed charges against nine persons, including six Pakistani nationals for allegedly plotting to kill President A P J Abdul Kalam and kidnap cricketers Sachin Tendulkar and Saurav Ganguly recently.

Designated judge S N Dhingra framed charges against accused Tariq Mohammad, Ashahaq Ahmed, Mohammad Amran, Mohammad Asraf, Abdul Majid, Mufti Mohammad Asrar, Arshad Khan, Ghulam Mohammad Dhar and Ghulam Qadar Bhatt under various sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Prevention of Terrorism Act (POTA).

The court also said that the case against other two accused – Aftab Ansari, who is facing trial in the American Centre shoot out case in Kolkata and Mohammad Jalulludin, who has been declared a proclaimed offender – will be conducted separately.
