Jammu: The long awaited process of dialogue on Jammu and Kashmir was set in motion on March 5, with the Centre's interlocutor N N Vohra having wide ranging discussions with Governor G C Saxena and several other important government functionaries.

To a question whether Hurriyat Conference was on his agenda for dialogue, he said the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister have said in Parliament, "I would meet everyone. At what stage who comes forward, it is for them (Hurriyat) to make up their mind."

In the first phase, Vohra said he would be meeting with the important people in the legislative set up and after discussions with them he would draw future programme for talks.

He said that his first visit to Jammu and Kashmir is to establish preliminary contact with important personalities, with whom he would be working in future for finding solution to the problems.

Immediately after arrival, Vohra held a wide-ranging discussion with the Governor on the situation in Jammu and Kashmir. The meeting lasted for about 90 minutes.

He also met Deputy Chief Minister Mangat Ram Sharma. "The meeting was brief but fruitful," Sharma told reporters after the meeting, which lasted 35 minutes.

Vohra's meeting with Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed is slated for later on March 5.
