New Delhi: The CPI (Communist Party of India) on March 6 demanded that the
Supreme Court take suo motu notice of the Allahabad High Court order to excavate the
disputed site at Ayodhya and stay its execution as it could lead to "hundreds of
other disputes".
"The excavation order will have far reaching consequences. India being an old
civilisation, there might be layers and layers of structure beneath any structure.
The
order opens a Pandora's box and paves the way for mischief makers to demand similar
excavation of other historical monuments," party's central secretariat said in a
statement
in New Delhi.
VHP (Vishwa Hindu Parishad) leader Acharya Giriraj Kishore has already made a demand
for excavation of some other sites like Gyanvapi mosque in Varanasi while RSS
(Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) claims to have a list of 3,000 mosques which it wants
to be "reconverted" into temples, the party said.
"In place of resolving a dispute, the excavation order will give rise to hundreds of
other disputes," it said.
