United Nations: Iraq has been co-operating proactively with UN arms inspectors for
the past month, chief weapons inspector Hans Blix said on March 5.
"In the past month, they have been proactive," he told reporters, but declined to
say how long it would take to complete the inspections because "the track record has
not been very good" in the past.
Blix said he was not "in favour of inspections forever", but he did not want to say
how long they should go on, because "I don't want to be seen to be doing anything
that is politically motivated".
Blix is due to report on March 7 to the United Nations Security Council, which has
begun tense negotiations on a draft resolution, sponsored by Britain and the United
States that would cut short the inspections and disarm Iraq by force.
