Indore: Stating that the 1995 agreement between Hindu and Muslim communities on
entry into the Bhojshala was reached between "district administration's men" and
Muslim leaders, the Hindu Jagran Manch (HJM) on March 7 said the agreement was not
acceptable to it.
The HJM co-ordinator Radheshyam Yadav, while reacting to Madhya Pradesh government's
decision to forward the agreement to the Centre, said the agreement signed
between "district administration's men" and Muslim leaders was not according to
wishes of the majority community.
Arguing that there would not have been any problem if the agreement had been
representative of people's wishes, he said it was not followed, as the agreement had
been imposed on the people at that time.
Alleging that the state government was trying to appease the minority community,
Yadav said the government took no time in forwarding recommendations of the first
all party meeting held on February 19 boycotted by the HJM.
It took more than a week to forward recommendations of the second all party meeting
convened on the issue, which was boycotted by Muslims, he said.
He said HJM will wait for Centre's reply on the issue before intensifying its
agitation for liberation of Bhojshala.
Claiming that Chief Minister Digvijay Singh had transgressed his authority by
forwarding the 1995 agreement as state government's recommendation, the HJM leader
said Singh had earlier said that Bhojshala, being property of the Centre, it should
decide on allowing people inside the temple.
