New Delhi: President A P J Abdul Kalam on March 7 felicitated women of the country for their "monumental and more than equal role in shaping the destiny of the nation".

"We are proud of the achievements of women in cooperation and dedication to the values of our cultural heritage," he said in a message on the eve of International Women's Day.

"I also salute those who have contributed in our freedom struggle and those still working in the formation, upliftment and all round development of our nation," Kalam said, wishing them continued progress and prosperity in the years ahead.
