Agartala: An 18-member Left Front ministry was sworn-in in Tripura on March 7, headed by Manik Sarkar, who assumed the office of Chief Minister for the second consecutive term.

Governor Lt Gen (Retd) K M Seth administered the oath of office and secrecy to Sarkar at the lawns of Raj Bhavan in a simple ceremony.

Apart from Sarkar, 17 other ministers also took oath.

Except Gopal Das of RSP and Manindra Reang of Communist Party of India (CPI), all the other ministers belong to Communist Party of India – Marxist (CPM), the dominant Front partner.

The ministers are Anil Sarkar, Pabitra Kar, Badal Chowdhuri, Jitendra Chowdhuri, Sukumar Burman, Subodh Das, Sudhir Das, Gopal Das, Khagendra Jamatiya, Manindra Reang, Fayzue Rehaman, Narayan Rupini, Keshab Majumder, Bijoy Laxmi Sinha, Pranab Debbarma, Manik Dey and Tapan Chakraborty.

Bijoy Laxmi Sinha, widow of former Health Minister Bimal Sinha, was the only woman to be inducted into the Cabinet.
