New Delhi: Underworld groups including Dawood Ibrahim's gang are reported to have planned explosions in India as part of their retaliatory violence in the context of communal situation in Gujarat, Lok Sabha was told on March 11.

There have been reports about these groups, operating from foreign bases, mobilising funds abroad for dispatch to destinations in India and planned to smuggle in terrorist hardware and cause explosions, Minister of State for Home Harin Pathak said in a written answer.

Investigating agencies are keeping a close watch over the activities of suspected elements and institutions but no arrests have been made so far in this regard, he said.
