New Delhi: Continuing their mission of meeting the diplomatic corps in New Delhi for the second day, the two-member Hurriyat Conference team on March 11 met the officials from the United States and French Embassies.

The delegation comprising former Hurriyat chairman Mirwaiz Umer Farooq and Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman Yaseen Malik met the diplomatic officials from France and apprised them of the recent developments and the role of the amalgam.

They later met the officials from the Political Affairs section of the US Embassy and sought to clarify the stand of the amalgam.

The US Embassy is reportedly not happy with the amalgam leadership for its non- participation in the state Assembly elections last year. As a fallout of this, its Ambassador Robert Blackwill ignored the Hurriyat leaders during his visit to the valley recently.

However, indicative of differences within the amalgam, Mirwaiz Umer Farooq later went to the residence of chairman of Kashmir Committee Ram Jethmalani along with another amalgam leader Khalil Mohammed, while Yaseen Malik was conspicuous by his absence.

Malik, after his release from the jail, had criticised the Jethmalani mission and even accused him of double standards on Kashmir issue.

During the meeting with Jethmalani, Mirwaiz reportedly offered all help to the Committee in facilitating a dialogue with leaders across the border.
