New Delhi: In the aftermath of the drubbing in Himachal Pradesh elections, Prime
Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee and Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani on March 11 talked
tough asking their party-men to strengthen the organisation saying development alone
does not deliver in polls.

Addressing the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) Parliamentary Party, the two leaders
asked them not to air their views publicly and work towards strengthening the
organisation.
"Development alone does not work and there is need to strengthen the organisation as
was seen in the Assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh," Vajpayee told the meeting,
party spokesman V K Malhotra said.
The Prime Minister said there was need to learn lessons from Himachal elections. "It
is seen if there is no cohesion at the lower level it will not be possible to rectify
the shortcomings and it is important to set this right if we are to be a party with a
difference."
