New Delhi: Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee would make a statement in Parliament
on March 12 on the situation in Iraq, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj
said on March 11.
Vajpayee would first make the statement in the Lok Sabha at noon and later in Rajya
Sabha at 12:45 hours (IST), Swaraj said.
The Prime Minister's decision to take both the Houses into confidence follows a
demand by the Opposition that the government should make its stand clear on Iraq
crisis which, it said, was threatening world peace.
The issue figured in the Lok Sabha on March 11 for the second day and Swaraj told
the agitated Opposition members that she had already conveyed the members' feelings
to Vajpayee and he would make a statement in accordance with his
convenience.
