Guwahati: Two National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) militants moving from
across the border in Bhutan to carry out subversive activities were killed by the
Army during an encounter on March 12 in Lower Assam's Bongaigaon district.
The encounter took place when a group of ultras on being challenged by troops of the
Red Horns Division at Bara Bazar lobbed grenades and opened fire, Defence sources
said.
The two rebels were killed when the Army retaliated but the others managed to escape
into the nearby thick jungles, the sources said.
The Army recovered a .38 pistol with three live rounds, assorted fired cases and
documents.
