Kolkata: The wife of a jailed Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP) panchayat member was gang-raped at a village in South 24 Parganas district, as the West Bengal Women's Commission on March 12 said that it was sending its own team to investigate the February 22 gang-rape of a Communist Party of India – Marxist (CPM) mahila committee member at Ghoksadanga in Cooch Behar district.

The wife of RSP member Dilip Mirdha, living alone after her husband was put behind bars, was raped by a gang of five to six anti-socials on March 11 night at Tibkumar village in South 24 Parganas district, the police said.

The victim has been sent for medical examination.
