
New Delhi: Government tonight (March 13) asserted that there will be no shortage of
oil supplies in the country in the event of a war on Iraq saying proper arrangements
had been made to deal with the situation.
"Adequate stocks have been built and there will be no shortage of oil supplies.
Proper care has been taken," External Affairs Minister Yashwant Sinha told reporters
after
a two-hour long meeting of the Cabinet Committee of Security (CCS) presided over by
Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee in New Delhi.
Petroleum Minister Ram Naik, who had been invited to the meeting, briefed the CCS
with facts and figures regarding the oil position in case of a conflict in the Gulf.
