BJP will fight MP polls under Uma Bharti: Advani
Saturday, March 15 2003 18:01 Hrs (IST)

Bhopal: Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani on March 15 said Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would fight the next Assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh under the leadership of senior party leader Uma Bharti.

Advani made this announcement at a Sankalp rally organised by BJP at Lal Parade Ground.

Advani said he was making this known in response to a request earlier from state BJP president Kailash Joshi that the party's national president Venkiah Naidu should announce that the next Assembly elections in the state would be fought under Bharti's leadership.

Joshi said ever since Bharti had resigned from the Union Cabinet, she was devoting her full time to the state and added that she deserved to lead the party for the next Assembly elections.
