Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh is ready to host Afro-Asian Games scheduled to be held in
October and has all the infrastructure and organisational skills required for the
event, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said on Saturday.
Speaking at a function organised by International Institute of Information
Technology (IIIT) at GMC Balayogi Indoor Stadium, Naidu told chief guest and
President A P J Abdul Kalam that the state has the needed infrastructure to host the
mega event of Afro Asian Games.
Kalam later released a software "Reading Aid for the Blind", developed by IIIT.
Naidu said he was in touch with Indian Olympic Association (IOA), which has to
finalise the venue for the Afro-Asian Games (AAG) in which nearly 90 countries are
expected to take part.
The state government had earlier presented to IOA the infrastructure and other
facilities the state has and staked its claim to host the games.
