New Delhi: After adopting a hard line against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government, the Hurriyat Conference will hold the first ever meeting with Congress president and leader of Opposition Sonia Gandhi.

The Hurriyat delegation comprising its former chairman Mirwais Umar Farooq and Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Yasin Malik will call on Gandhi shortly and apprise her of the political situation in the valley, including the alleged harassment by the centre of Muslim institutions in Jammu and Kashmir, Hurriyat sources said.

This is for the first time that Hurriyat leaders will be meeting any mainstream political leader publicly.

The Hurriyat leaders are also likely to apprise her of alleged dual policies of the Centre in resolving the Kashmir issue.
