Ahmedabad: The Gujarat government on March 15 constituted a "review committee" for
Prevention of Terrorism Act (POTA) cases, under the chairmanship of retired Justice
N B Patel of the state High Court.
The committee, which will review all cases registered under the anti-terrorism Law,
also includes additional chief secretary (Home), director general of police and
secretary (Law), an official release said on March 15 night.
The state government had invoked POTA against 131 accused in the Godhra train
carnage, which claimed 59 lives, mostly Ramsevaks, and triggered large-scale
communal violence across the state on February 27 last year.
A special POTA court has been set up for hearing of the cases in the city.
