Indore: All India Hindu Mahasabha will stage a "satyagraha" during Prime Minister
Atal Behari Vajpayee's visit to Indore on April 4, to press for its demands on the
Bhojshala issue, liberation of Lord Krishna's birthplace in Mathura and construction
of Ram temple at the "garbhagriha" at Ayodhya.
The Mahasabha had earlier planned the satyagraha on March 23 but in view of
Vajpayee's visit to attend Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s national executive meeting
in Indore, it was decided to postpone the agitation and hold it on April 4,
Mahasabha Madhya Pradesh unit said in a release on march 16.
The satyagraha will be led by Mahasabha's state unit president Radheshyam
Vashistha.
The Mahasabha, agitating for the Bhojshala issue since 1952, was demanding that the
idol of Goddess Saraswati, which was taken away by Britishers in 1904, be brought
back and installed at the shrine.
Accusing both BJP and its allied organisations and Congress of politicising the
issue for their own interest, the Mahasabha denied that Hindu organisations were
pressurising Union Tourism Minister Jagmohan for opening the Bhojshala, which has
been put under locks by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
The Mahasabha will also highlight the poor condition of power, roads and water in
Madhya Pradesh during the satyagraha, the release added.
