Guard killed, 35 injured in train collision

Dhanbad: Guard of a stationary goods train was killed, 35 passengers were injured and five bogies derailed when the 1448 UP Howrah-Jabalpur Shaktipunj Express dashed against the goods train late March 16 night near Dani station under Dhanbad division, railway sources said on March 17.

According to railway sources, the Howrah-Jabalpur Shaktipunj Express dashed against the stationary goods trains killing its guard Birendra Kumar on the Gomia-Barkskhana section under Dhanbad division.

Five bogies of the Express train derailed with its locomotive badly damaged following the collision, the sources said.

Senior railway officials from Dhanbad have rushed to the spot for providing relief to the passengers and clear the blocked tracks.

No railway movement was affected as the traffic on this section was minimal, the sources added.
