New Delhi: President A P J Abdul Kalam and Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat on
March 17 greeted the people on the occasion of Holi saying that the festival of
colour brings with it joy, hope and fulfilment for all.
"Holi also signifies how our minds can be prevailed upon to generate happiness. As we
celebrate the joy, the coming of spring and the blossoming of flowers, let us
transmit smiles into action to people who need happiness and the aged. Each one of us
should come forward to lessen the pain so that they can also share the happiness of
this colourful and purposeful festival," Kalam said.
In his message, the Vice President said celebrated in its true spirit of colours in a
joyous mood, Holi marks the onset of spring.
"The festivities of Holi help us to forget all distinctions and unite us all in the
colourful celebrations, which help in promoting the feeling of oneness to maintain
vigil against evil forces," Shekhawat said.
"Let us play Holi free from prejudices to realise the noble ideals of the festival,"
the Vice President said.
