Jammu: Six hardcore militants were on March 17 killed in a fierce encounter with
police in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, according to official sources.
Acting on a specific information that militants were present in Basti village,
security forces launched a cordon and search operation early March 17 morning, the
sources said, adding the ultras fired on police resulting in a fierce
gunbattle.
In the encounter, six militants were killed and more troops were sent to the area
for assistance.
