New Delhi: India on March 18 said it was "deeply disappointed" over the inability of the UN Security Council to act collectively on Iraq, especially the failure of its permanent members to harmonise their positions.

"As long as the peaceful disarmament of Iraq has the slightest chance, we would continue to urge caution, self-restraint and high sense of responsibility on the part of the concerned parties," said a statement issued by the External Affairs Ministry on the current situation related to Iraq.

External Affairs Minister Yashwant Sinha briefed the Union Cabinet, which met on March 18 evening under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee, on the latest situation related to Iraq.
