Ultras try in vain to blow up BSF camp in J&K
Wednesday, March 19 2003 18:28 Hrs (IST)

Srinagar: Militants made an abortive bid to blow up a security camp, firing rockets and grenades towards it in Pulwama district in South Kashmir on March 18 night, official sources said.

Militants fired three rockets and nearly a dozen rifle grenades at a Border Security Force (BSF) camp at Satoora in Tral on March 18 night, they said.

The rockets and grenades failed to hit the target and exploded in the nearby open fields, without causing any damage or casualty, the sources said.

BSF troops fired in retaliation using light machine guns, but the ultras escaped, they said.

Meanwhile, Army and police in a joint operation arrested a Hizbul Mujahideen militant Akhtar Ahmad Magloo alias Sajad, from Kokernag area of Anantnag district in South Kashmir early on March 19.

The militant was arrested along with an AK assault rifle, two magazines and 50 rounds of ammunition, the sources added.
