Purnea: Ten persons, including two police officials, were injured when an irate mob
attacked the Tikapatti police station in Bihar's Purnea district on March 20,
forcing the cops to baton-charge and open fire in self-defence.
Police fired over 20 rounds and baton-charged a rampaging crowd that attacked the
Tikapatti police station to free an arrested criminal Sanjiv Choudhary, district
superintendent of police A K Verma told reporters.
Two police officials Mahadeo Ram and Ram Kumar Singh were among 10 people wounded in
heavy stone throwing and cross firing between the police and the rampaging crowd.
Choudhary was arrested, following a clash with the family of one Upendra Mandal over
land dispute, in which the latter was injured on March 19 night.
Deputy inspector general of police (provisions) and spokesman of Bihar Police
