Holi fever grips several parts of the country
Thursday, March 20 2003 14:02 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: Barring sporadic incidents of communal clash and hooliganism taking over revelry which left two persons dead, Holi, the festival of colours, was celebrated in several parts of the country on March 19.

Holi fever gripped Delhi since early morning with people coming out of their houses and applying "gulal" on friends, relatives and neighbours.

In Bihar, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Laloo Prasad Yadav and his Chief Minister wife Rabri Devi greeted the people as a huge crowd of party supporters, including ministers and Legislators, thronged their residence and exchanged pleasantries.

While most parts of Punjab and Haryana celebrated the festival on March 18, Holi revellers drenched passers-by throwing coloured water and people in groups danced to the beat of "dhols" and applied "gulal" in Chandigarh on March 19.
