Ayodhya: Eight pieces of articles were on March 22 recovered during excavation work
in the acquired land in Ayodhya after completion of digging in five trenches,
sources said.
One piece of glass plate, four pieces of broken bangles, one bead, a bracelet and
a 'tabeez' (talisman) were found during the digging work in trench numbers three,
six, seven and eight in the Ram Chabutra campus, they said.
All the articles were cleaned and kept in sealed covers in the safe custody of the
Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), the sources said.
About one-and-a-half feet digging was completed in trench number eight and two-and-a-
half feet in k-7, they said.
In all, 48 labourers, including three Muslims, were engaged in the digging work on
March 22, the sources said.
Meanwhile, Central Sunni Waqf Board's counsel Zafaryab Jilani contested Vishwa Hindu
Parishad's (VHP) claims saying there was no restriction on Muslims from visiting the
acquired land and no legal bar on their entry into the periphery of the two hundred
yards around the disputed structure.
"Muslims can go inside the acquired land and visit the make-shift structure," he
told reporters.
Jilani said he has already demanded engaging equal number of Muslims labourers in
the excavation work and has moved the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court in
this regard.
The excavation work would remain suspended on March 24 on account of weekly holiday.
According to sources, the ASI team is likely to submit the progress report on the
excavation work to the court on March 24. The Ayodhya case is likely to be heard on
March 24.
