Santiago: Anti-war protests turned violent in Santiago on March 22 where explosives
ripped through a Santiago branch of a US bank, BankBoston, damaging the building,
according to police sources.
However, no injuries have been reported yet.
Protestors apparently attached dynamite to an automated cash machine outside the
bank premises in Eastern Santiago's Providencia neighbourhood.
According to sources, police have recovered unsigned pamphlets at the blast site
that condemn US-led military attack on Iraq.
The blast, which is believed to have occurred in the early hours of March 22 has
destroyed the cash machine and shattered the windowpanes of the bank.
No one was at the bank during the explosion, say police sources.
