Dubai: The Indian Embassy building in Baghdad and the 15 Indians who stayed back in
the country even in the face of a US-led war against Iraq are safe.
The American onslaught has been intensifying, with more than 1,500 cruise missiles
having rained on Baghdad.
The 43-year old Indian Embassy in Adhamiya area is situated 500 metres away from the
Embassy of Turkey, a close US ally and about half-a-kilometre from one of the big
presidential palaces.
"I have talked to the local caretakers of the Embassy in Baghdad today (March 22).
The Embassy and the Indians in Iraq are all safe so far," B B Tyagi said on phone
from Amman, where he has been camping since the war broke out.
Meanwhile, four Indians working for a private company in Iraq, reached the Jordanian
capital by road and left for the country.
