Gorakhpur (UP): The district administration on March 22 banned the entry of Vishwa
Hindu Parishad (VHP) international general secretary Praveen Bhai Togadia into
Gorakhpur on March 24 to attend a 'trishul diksha' programme, official sources said.
The decision was taken in view of the prevailing tension in the city, where curfew
was clamped on March 19 following communal clashes that left two persons dead, they
said.
The district authorities have warned that any violation of the ban order would be
sternly dealt with, the sources said.
Togadia is scheduled to visit Gorakhpur on March 24 to attend VHP's 'trishul diksha'.
Meanwhile, curfew in the three police station areas of the city continued for the
fourth consecutive day, even as no untoward incident was reported from any part of
the city, the sources said.
Board examination for classes 10 and 12 were conducted peacefully in the curfew
bound areas, with the authorities allowing unhindered movement of examinees and
their escorts, they said.
Curfew was clamped in three police station areas of the city on March 19 following
