Kolkata: Anti-war protests continued to rock West Bengal with various political parties staging demonstrations against the US strike on Iraq.

Trinamool Congress, an ally of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government, organised a meeting in front of Gandhi Statue to protest against the US invasion into Iraq in which TC MLAs, councillors and other leaders were present.

Party chief Mamta Banerjee said that no peace-loving people could support such war imposed on Iraq.

An all-faith prayer meeting was also organised in support of peace while children released colourful balloons.

Youth Congress and SUCI activists staged demonstrations near the American Centre condemning the US strike.

The protestors, who were stopped some distance away from the American Centre, carried posters against the US action and shouted slogans denouncing the American attack.

MLAs cutting across party lines had on March 24 marched to the US Consulate in Kolkata to register their protest.
